Hi Sarah, I am not sure if you can find a family in India. Au-pairs are usually people from 'not so rich countries' that go to work to 'rich' countries - not everybody can afford an au-pair and India is an extremely poor country. But don't give up, maybe a nice family appears, I would recommend you to look here: http://www.greataupair.com and http://www.aupair-world.net
If you don't find anything, you can also try to find another part time job (but I really have no idea how I would do that).

Wish you good luck.

I believe a lot are hands-on mothers in India, seldom do they need au pairs. If your heart is set to venture the country, a job on tech and medical is needed although the pay would not be really challenging. Wink

Au pair in India

Post  socla on Mon 20 Apr 2009, 3:32 am

Hi everybody !

I up-date this subject. I just wanted to say that being an au pair in India IS possible ! I've been an au pair there for four months now, there are Indian families looking for girls but not so much and really, you won't be treated so well in a local family.

Just look on the expatriates side, some may need a hand. I am in a French expat family and it's very good. This way, I have a lot of comfort at home but I can also enjoy the indian culture.

And NO! India is not an horrible and dangerous and extremly poor country !

Good luck !
