Couchsurfing

Post  lincgoody on Wed 01 Aug 2007, 2:54 pm

Heya,

Who already test it? I really want to experiment it in the future to visit "for free" and meet new people.

People who did do it let me know how it is please. Is it a really safe way to visit a foreign country and stuff?

Let me know.

See ya mates.

Lindsay

you aren't don't worry lol!

Actually the couchsurfing is a concept which consists to sleep on a couch. I explain better: you need to register on a website (www.couchsurfing.com) and the principe is to go in a foreign country (anywhere you want!!) just in paying your flat 'cause when you arrive in your host country a member of this website invite to you in his/her house and lend you his/her couch for maximum 3 days Smile

So it's really interesting to do actually, but I never heard a proper person to tell me it's safe, you see what I mean??

So people who did do that let me know your experience :d

I love couchsurfing! It's not only a great way to save money, it's also helped me meet local people here in Germany, and make friends everywhere I travel.

Oh you already did it, that's so great! In which country did you go? Are you still in touch with people you met through your trips?

The only people I've actually stayed with through CS live in Nuremberg, which is only an hour away from me. However, I have met people in Budapest and Munich through Couchsurfing. I stayed with a friend in Budapest, but some CSers there have a daily lunch that I went to four times, and I met people who lived there and were traveling and we hung out while I was there. These two Australian girls who I had actually met at a big CS meeting in Nuremberg were also in Budapest when I was so we hung out a lot and I think we'll keep in touch. I also met this great guy in Munich-- I would have stayed with him but he wasn't sure if he would be there until the last minute so I ended up booking a hostel. We ended up hanging out and he took me to a secret illegal party in a field and it was a lot of fun. The Couchsurfers near me have frequent meetings, and I have gone to a music festival, clubbing and done other stuff with them.

Hi girls,

I've tried meeting some ppl through CS and it was brilliant! I met a bunch of people from London and we went to hot wings night which was basically eating lots of chicken wings. It was great! Met some lovely, crazy ppl. I've found a group for London au pairs as well so please join it if you're in London! I think it's kind of easier to meet that way because there're lots of events organised by other CSs.

Hope to meet you in London!
